Lara has been training dogs and puppies for over 30 years, first as an assistant to her grandfather, who was a Search and Rescue dog trainer in the Alps of Slovenia, and then professionally as an obedience trainer for over 15 years in the U.S. She graduated with honors from Affection Dog Training School in La Habra, California, specializing in
positive reinforcement dog training techniques. She then went on to teach group training classes as a trainer with Animal Behavior and Training Associates for PetCo stores in the South Bay and Long Beach areas of Los Angeles. During the course of four years of group classes, Lara has trained hundreds of dogs, and just about every breed, and has vast experience with positive reinforcement techniques for both beginning and advanced off-leash obedience work.
Lara's dog Rascal, a Pointweiler (Pointer/Rottweiler mix), began her career as a "demo" dog in Lara's group classes while she was still a puppy, assisting with socializing and demonstrations of commands. She continues to assist with private sessions at the age of 14!
